CHACUR FAMILY

Telling the history

In 1976, I wanted to draw Chacurs’ family tree. For that I asked the help of Mussa Chacur, a very intelligent and simple man whose memory was great. We went back as far as the 1650’s..., when the surname Chacur was still Chucrala.

Before his death in 1986, Mussa Chacur asked my sister Elaize and I to continue working on the family’s history. We were very enthusiastic about it, but in 1999 Elaize also passed away.

In 2000, Raphael Chacur and I decided not to abandon the family’s project. This time Regina Chacur, Raphael’s daughter, joined us.

Together, we did all we could to remount the family’s history. We collected lots of information, as king, calling people on the phone and doing interviews. Finally, six family nuclei were composed.

Even tough many names were located due to searches on the net, without the contribution of Rodolfo, Elaize, Regina, and Mussa Chacur, we wouldn’t have been able to either to design nor install this website, in which 1,311 names have been gathered and 395 marriages traced.

There’s still a lot to be done! This is an endless journey!
We’ll always be glad to have everyone’s help.

To the ones who are family members, we ask special attention to the constant updating. To unknown and curious visitors, it’s with much pride that we introduce you to our family.
